Hey friends! My name is Raquel Lodge and I am a self-love enthusiast, total nutrition nerd, gym junkie and wellness advocate giving you all the tips, tricks and recipes on becoming the happiest, most confident, healthiest version of you!
I have a Bachelors degree in Human Nutritional Sciences (Foods & Nutrition) with a lot of volunteer experience under my belt making me a nutrition/food expert. I have taught kids cooking classes, worked at food banks, shadowed dietitian’s in my community, doing projects for them and I am currently working as a dietary aide in a Hospital gaining clinical experience so I am very familiar with food service, the food industry and all the latest & greatest in the nutrition world.
There a few reasons why I decided to start this blog that are very personal and I never EVER thought I would be sharing them with the world. My degree is in nutrition but there is another reason why nutrition, wellness and self-love is such a big part of my life and why I know so much about it.
While I was in school, for about 3 ish years, I struggled very badly with an anxiety disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and insomnia.
All three were all kind of intertwined but they take a big toll on my life, and I never thought I would be happy again. It was a very scary time in my life.
I was in a very dark place for a very long time, and I managed to heal from all 3 with no medication or therapy (not saying these are bad), but through meditation, mindfulness, self-love, good nutrition and just taking care of me first.
From going through traumatic mental health issues and not being able to imagine going through anything worse, I now have a fire inside of me to share how I healed with all of you, and help you heal too and share all my knowledge on self-care, nutrition and workout tips that helped me feel like myself again. I know how many people suffer and struggle with the same things I have, and I don’t want them to keep that to themselves and struggle alone. Besides my niche for nutrition, fitness and wellness, here are some other fun facts about me and my life!
— I am from a small town called Lac du Bonnet, which is absolutely beautiful and my favourite place in the entire world. My parents have an amazing place on the water so its like living at a cabin everyday of my life.
— Not married or anything but I have the most amazing boyfriend and I am blessed that he is in my life every single day. He is so supportive of every decision I make and its amazing.
— I love dogs but I have never had one. So sad right? I always tell my boyfriend when we have our own place were adopting like 10 dogs.
— My favourite colour is pink if you have not noticed. Its the colour theme of my blog, all my captions on my insta stories are always pink, majority of my gym clothes, shoes, water bottles, coffee cups, phone cases, etc are ALL pink. Im obsessed.
— Coffee is my favourite, I am a HUGE coffee lover. And not because I like can’t be happy without it or anything, but I thoroughly enjoy the taste and I find it really relaxing to sip on coffee in the mornings and read a book or just chill.
— Big fan of tea as well. Chai tea and peppermint tea are my go-to’s.
— On that note, I am a major bookworm. I loooove to read and have since I was like 3. Not even kidding my mom said I was picking up books before I could talk or read. When I could kind of talk I would practice reading and just speak nonesense. We have home videos of me doing it its so cute.
— Another weird thing about me is that I actually prefer a gloomy, rainy day over a sunny, hot day any day. I’ve always loved a good rainy day because it means being cozy, curled up with a good book, tea/coffee, music or movies, journaling, and plus the sound of rain is so peaceful and gives me so much joy.
